2.     What data we collect and when 

Every time someone visits www.digitalstrom.com (hereafter: ‘the Website’), our system automatically collects data from the system of the computer from which the Website is being accessed. We also collect data whenever you contact us (e.g. by email). 

For example, under each of the following circumstances we collect the data listed: 

When someone uses the Website:  

  • the user’s browser type and version  
  • the user’s operating system  
  • the user’s internet service provider 
  • the user’s IP address 
  • date and time the Website was accessed 
  • websites from which the user’s system accessed the Website 
  • scope, declaration of consent 

When someone creates a user account:  

  • name and surname

  • residential address 

This data is stored for as long as the user’s account is active. Software backups including user data are only stored for a maximum of 12 months. 

When a user accesses the Website via a handheld device:

  • information about the user’s use of the Website (e.g. user settings, favourites, cache) 
  • user behaviour

When someone uses the digitalSTROM system:

  • System events, such as apartment data like structure, status or registered mobile devices, are only deleted in certain cases. 
  • Measurement data/signals are stored for 10 years, but they cannot be directly linked to personal identifiable information or user data. This data only includes IDs (e.g. apartment ID and DSIDs of DSSs, DSMs). 

The data is stored on grounds of data security, and ensures the stability and reliability of our system.

3.     Who we transfer your personal data to 

We are entitled to grant providers of third-party services access to the information you have stored in your mein.digitalSTROM account to the extent necessary and for the fulfilment of the relevant purpose. 

Moreover, we use external service providers who manage the Website or perform other activities such as web traffic monitoring, statistical analysis (e.g. analytics services like Google Analytics) or distribution of newsletters, mailing list content or surveys. We also make use of external language services. We ensure that these service providers only receive anonymised data. 

We use the web analytics service Google Analytics. Google Analytics requires the use of cookies. The information captured by the cookies about your use of the Website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Your IP address is stored in abbreviated form. In exceptional cases only, your full IP address will be transferred to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. On behalf of the operator of this Website, Google uses the information generated by the cookies to analyse your use of the Website, to compile reports about website activity and to provide other services to the website operator with respect to website usage and internet usage. You can prevent Google from collecting data captured by cookies about your use of the Website (including your IP address) and from processing this information by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

If you fill in the contact form or send us an email or another kind of electronic message, your information will only be stored and used for the purpose of handling your query and any related further questions you may have. We will delete your personal data once we have resolved your query.

These are small files that are created automatically by your browser and are stored on your end device (laptop, smartphone etc.) when you visit the Website. This data will be stored until you delete it. This allows us to recognise your browser when you next visit the Website.
